The Boston Bruins team strength on the road ultimately made them the NHL’s Stanley Cup Champions for 2011.
The Bruins beat the Canucks in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final in Vancouver.
Patrice Bergeron lead the way by scoring 2 goals, one of them a short-handed goal that was a dagger in the Vancouver Canucks' heart in a 4-0 victory Wednesday night.
Rookie Brad Marchand also scored twice, once into an empty net, and had an assist as the Bruins won their sixth Stanley Cup. Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg had 2 assists.
The last time the Bruins hoisted Lord Stanley was in 1972 when they beat the Rangers in New York.
Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas made 37 stops for the shutout. It was the first shutout by a goalie in a game 7 Stanley Cup Final in the history of the NHL. Thomas was then awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs.
