Alex Ovechkin hasn’t had the best season. Sure he’s scored over 30 goals, but we’ve come to expect more from the Great 8. However, he’s turned on the afterburners recently, averaging a goal per game in recent weeks.
The Jets, though, have gone all stop. They’re 4-5-1 in their last 10 and are just 11-20-4 on the road this season. On their current two-game losing streak, Winnipeg’s top five scorers have just five points and are a combined minus-16.
For a time it looked like the only playoff entrant from the Southeast would be whoever won the division, but now it looks like eighth will be a battle between Washington, Buffalo and Winnipeg. The Caps currently have 18/1 odds of winning the Eastern Conference while the Sabres NHL odds are set at 25/1 and the Jets are at 40/1.
