Hi there, my name is Ajay Baines. I was born and raised in a small town in BC called Kamloops. Also known as the Tournament capital of BC.
As a kid, I loved all sports, but was very passionate about soccer, and tennis. Growing up in Canada it was all about hockey, so I became a student of the game. It became my new passion. Even though my dream was to play left midfield alongside Zinedine Zidane.
My dream of playing for my hometown Kamloops Blazers came true in 1995. I went on to take care of business for the Blazers for 4 seasons. Then in 1999, undersized and undrafted, I defied the odds by becoming the first east indian to turn pro since my idol Robin Bawa. I spent 5 years in the Chicago Blackhawks system. Played in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for the Norfolk Admirals. I enjoyed my time in Virginia working on my tan and becoming the franchise's all-time leading scorer. In 2004 I signed on with the Montreal Canadians and played with their minor league team the Hamilton Bulldogs. The highlight of my career came in 2007, scoring the game winning, series clinching goal to win the AHL Calder Cup. I went on to finish my career in 2009 playing in Des Moines, Iowa for the Anaheim Ducks farm team.
I now reside in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. I am working with my Dad, continuing to build our property management company. I am also pursuing my personal training certification.
I love the game of hockey, and I have always loved writing. I hope to share my knowledge and love of the game with everyone. I am looking forward to contributing to BetOnHockey.com.
